Born on October 20, 1948, he was the son of the late John and Inez Lewis. After his graduation from Everett High School, he proudly joined the Marine Corps and was on active duty from 1966 to 1969. He served two tours in Vietnam and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Following his service, he studied at Lansing Community College and joined General Motors in 1969, where he worked for 37 years until his retirement in 2006.
Following his retirement, he was an avid golfer and bowler, and was a long-standing member of VFW Post 671. He also volunteered for many years with the Kids Repair Program, where he taught children in the local community about bicycle safety, repair and maintenance.
His love and kindness will be deeply missed by his wife, Barbara L. Lewis, his stepdaughter and son-in-law Laura and Anthony Tridico, and his grandchildren John, Anthony and Nicole. He was predeceased by his sister, Judy Jerick, and his brother, Steven Lewis.
A private service will be held at the family’s request, with a private entombment to take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gorsline Runciman Funeral home. Online condolences may be shared at www.grlansing.com.
