I just found out about David’s death.  I was his babysitter from the time he was six and big brother to Tim, Larry and Tom.  There followed four more kids but who’s counting.  David and I reconnected on Facebook and had quite a reunion.  He invited me and my husband to the family Christmas that year so I was able to see him, Evie, Warne and most of the kids.  What a night that was!  Connie, he told me about how wonderful you are and how much he loved you.  I know he grew up to be a great man. I feel privileged to call myself a friend of David’s for over the last 40 years. I met him and Connie in the early 80’s and we became good friends. We joked together, laughed together and talked about life together. David was a friend whom you could always count on, especially when you were troubled. We saw each other through good times and the challenging times we had in life. For that I will be forever grateful. 
I came to know his family from his much loved children Beth Ann and Mathew, his dearly loved parents and his treasured wife Connie. 
As the years went by we saw each other less frequent. But we would pick up right where we had left it whenever we got together, just as if it was two weeks ago. He was that kind of person who was a genuine friend that I was always glad to see. He would update me on his kids, so proud of the adults they’d become. And in time, came the grandchildren that brought even bigger smiles when he’d talk about them. 
If you ever met David, you knew his distinctive laugh. I heard it often as we told our stories and joked with each other. I still hear it now when I think of him. What I remember most is at the end of our visits when it was time to leave, David would smile, give me a hug and say, “I love you Brother”. 
In time my day will come where I will part from this world. I look forward to seeing David again. And when I do, I can see his big smile and hear him jokingly say: “I was worried that you wouldn’t make it up here”. We both burst out laughing and I tell him, “I love you too Brother”.

Dear Connie and family,
Those we love can never be more than a thought away; for as long as there’s a memory, they live on in our hearts. It has been a long long time since Seminary, however we still have wonderful memories of mentor group and the fun we had.  Sharing our faith and family was priceless to us.

Our hearts in sorrow for such a bright extraordinary spirit who has left us all here who loved him, now cherishing forever heartwarming memories. A generous beautiful soul who loved life.. How fleeting our time is here. Prayers for consolation for the entire family. I have fond memories of Dave in Church youth groups.

To Dave's family: Knowing Dave's belief in God he is in heaven but it is not yet perfect, as he will miss all of you till you rejoin him. I miss him and I have rarely seen him in the last 50 years. Once a friend always a friend and he was a good man. Prayers for you to be able to handle the loss by remembering the goodness of his spirit.

Dave was a good friend. we had good times together both fun and funny,  but also with very deep and serious discussions. While miles separated us over the years, when were able to meet up, we able to continue where we left off.

Our hope is that all of the fond memories of Dave will give you comfort.

Dear Connie and family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to all of you. Dave was a big part of my childhood/teenage years. We went to the same church and the same school. Such wonderful memories. 
Connie, you and Dave were Deedee's Guardian Angels by bringing her back to Michigan from Seattle in your RV. We will never forget that kindness.
