Dawn Elaine Boutwell, 78, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2019 in Lansing, Michigan.

Born December 25, 1940 to Dorval and Norma (Strang) Conley, Dawn was a talented artist with a lifelong love of creating beauty – whether it was ceramics, oil painting, or making her home beautiful, Dawn had an eye for artistic touches. Over the years she became a master interior decorator, using her knowledge of colors and textures and design, to transform every house she lived in into a work of art. She was an excellent homemaker. She loved sewing, baking, gardening and flower arranging, even landscaping. She was also a sophisticated lady, always fashionably dressed; whether in public, or at home, and was a gracious host. A real lady. She was always proud of her sons' accomplishments, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed music and nature and wildlife, and drew inspiration from them. She loved songbirds. Cardinals were her favorite! She will be missed by all who knew her. A beautiful soul... Heaven has gained another angel!

Dawn was preceded in death by her son, Todd Boutwell; her brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Anne Conley; and her parents.

She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Donald Boutwell; her sons, Monte (Chalice) Boutwell, Bret Boutwell, and Chad Boutwell; her 8 grandchildren; her 4 great-grandchildren; her two brothers, Gary (Zora) Conley and Al Conley; nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

In accordance with her wishes, memorial services will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Salvation Army, 525 N Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48912, to help the homeless.

How do you describe the woman responsible for everything you know, loved, cared for , and adored... My Mom was the epitomy of beauty, artistry, compassion , and strength... She was responsible for my love of music, art, and how I looked at life... She was the most caring, beautiful and courageous lady I've evr met or known... She fought for 7 long months after her stroke to fight to live another day.. She suffered and tried her hardest to regain her body, even though it never happened.. I've lost my rock in life, my mentor and my best friend.. You will never be forgotten and will be thought of every single day for the rest of my life.. I love you, Mom, and can't wait to be with you again in the afterlife... Your soul and my soul will be forever entwined until my time comes to join you.. Until we meet again and can finally laugh for eternity.. I LOVE YOU MOM AND MISS YOU MORE THAN YOU WILL EVER KNOW !!! May Jesus hold you in His arms and love you like the woman you were in life... The epitomy of what ever woman should be like... Godspeed, Mom !

I'm going to miss the beautiful person that added so much love to our family throughout my entire life. I'm so sorry for Don, Monte, Bret and Chad and her grandkids that my heart breaks for them all. Dawn was always so kind hearted and so elegantly classy in every way that no one could ever compare. No words can explain how much I loved her and love all of her family. And how much it meant to me to have her with us when my mom passed. Rest in peace my sweet, sweet Dawny.

Im going to miss you grandma. I have so many memories of being with you. From sitting on the couch with you and learning about animals to helping you around the house. Christmas dinner, Thanksgiving, even my birthday, nothing will ever feel the same without you. To the greatest grandma a guy could ask for, I love you. Til we meet again in heaven, I will always miss you!

Grandma, you have taught me so much as a child. How to be a lady, how to conduct and carry yourself in all situations. How to cook. How to keep a tidy house and how to love unconditionally. You always made me feel like the most beautiful, loved little girl in the world! I miss coffee and news mornings with grandma and grandpa so much! Heaven gained the most beautiful souled angel when God called you home. I love you more then i could ever express and I look forward to the day i get to see you again! Fly high beautiful angel. I absolutely whole heartedly love you.

My memories go back alot of years and the times they lived in gladwin and owned the sugar shack. The family lived just up the road and i always looked at her in awe she was so beautiful and had such handsome boys. She aways had it together. Never mattered if she was at store or home she was such a lady. Hugs to the guys she was unforgetable and just know she was greatly admired.

Beautiful inside and out. Always welcoming. Always loving. You inspired me. So many memories, your little shop on main street, visits we had while you took such loving care of your mother, family gatherings. I have loved you and your family for a very long time. R.I.P Dawn.

I just remember her and Don at everything that I was at. She was always so nice, and yes, always very "classy". She was definatley a face that I would look for at any of the gatherings because she was one that let me know my family was there. I will miss seeing her, but, I am glad to know she is free from any pain, or anything else that might have tried to keep her down. Happy in knowing she is with all of the family that has gone, and happy knowing I will see her, and all the rest again.
