He was born July 11, 1956 in Lansing and lived on Cumberland Drive with his 10 siblings and parents. He attended Lansing Catholic Central and went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan. Later in life, he was chosen by a Governmental special task force to attend the Industrial College of the Armed Forces in Washington, D.C. Alongside career officers, he was one of only four civilians selected to attend the College where he earned his Masters. Denny had an illustrious career. He dedicated 32 years to General Motors before
transitioning to International Truck for another 10 years. Throughout his career, Denny remained highly motivated, a dedicated team player, and never considered himself superior to others.
Denny was an energetic, positive, and fun-loving man who had life-long friends from St. Therese, Lansing Catholic, and the University of Michigan. Those friends have been with him through thick and thin for many years. Denny was also committed to his faith, his family, and was always willing to give to others. He lived
a grateful life and was very proud of the many opportunities presented to him. He will be deeply missed.
He leaves behind his wife of 43 years Nanci; daughter, Allison (Rob Mayer); son, JR (Kaitlyn); daughter, Natalie; grandchildren, Maggie, Charlie, Jack and Lucy; siblings, Bob (Kitty), Tom (Becky), Pat (Katherine), Al (Laurie), Pete, Mark, Jeanne, Karen (Bill Dudley), Kathy (Paul Anderson) and John (Ann) Mooney. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marilyn Mooney.
A special thank you goes out to all his co-workers, friends and Father Brian Chabala who visited him and kept his spirits high during this difficult time. And to the professional staff at The Willows of East Lansing & Elara Hospice.
