Donald Richard Card, aged 88, of Grand Ledge, Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026. Donald was born in Lansing, MI, on May 20, 1937, to Frank and Cora (Fernburg) Card. Don was a graduate of Everett High School Class of 1955.
After completing basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, in 1956, he served as a corporal in the United States Army Reserve until his honorable discharge in 1963. Don took great pride in his work ethic as a skilled trade machinist at General Motors, Fisher Body, in Lansing, where he worked for nearly 45 years - from July of 1955 to March of 2000.
Don spent many years of his life in animal husbandry, raising a variety of livestock and rehabilitating orphaned and displaced wildlife including horses, cattle, peacocks, pheasants, and whitetail deer to name just a few.
After retirement, Don built three homes and pursued his passion for hunting and the outdoors, traveling the world visiting Africa, the Arctic, Australia, New Zealand, and Russia. Some of his prized trophies include his Alaskan grizzly bear, Arctic polar bear, and a gold-medal Moose from Kamchatka. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club and a longtime member of the Safari Club International.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Barbara Paspas; brother, Dennis Card; and former wives, Elizabeth Rice and Nancy Seiler.
Donald is survived by his brother, Douglas Card; daughter, Dana Sudduth; son, Aaron (Halette) Card; grandsons, Ryan (Erica) Sudduth and Theodore Card; great-grandson, Bowen Sudduth; and several nieces and nephews.
The family plans to have a private celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) or Michigan State University (MSU) Extension.
