

Dorothy Jean Hall was born to the late Arthur & Alice Shelby in Montgomery, Alabama on January 2, 1950. She was the youngest of two children. She accepted Christ into her life as a young child. She received her education through the Long Island Public Schools in Long Island, New York. On May 5, 1964, she married the love of her life, Johnny Lee Hall, Sr. To this union, they were blessed with five wonderful children. Dorothy, known as Jean to everyone, was a Lansing resident of 44 years. She was a dedicate wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, always putting her family first. She worked for the Lansing School District for 20 years. Dorothy loved the Lord and she loved people. She always had kind words to share of encouragement to those she encountered. Her warm smile, giving heart, and loving spirit will truly be missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lee & Alice Shelby; grandparents, James & Lucille Taylor; one brother, Author Lee Shelby, Jr.; one aunt Dorothy Williams; two sister-in-laws, Mattie Pearl McCants & Gertrude Covington; and two brother-in-laws Raymond Hall & Aubrey Lee Hall. Dorothy?s loving memories will be forever cherished by her husband of 48 years, Johnny ?John? Hall, Sr., five children, Johnny Hall (Rebecca), Loretta Hall (Terry), Gwen Thurman (Lonnie), Duane Hall (Tamara), and Anthony Hall (Danielle); 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Along with one sister-in-law Elizabeth Pickett, ex son-in-law Sonny Thurman, a special niece/sister Shirley Ann Simpson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
