

He graduated from JW Sexton High School in 1971 and Spring Arbor University in 1975. Following graduation, he attended Lansing Community College to pursue an interest in photography. He established his business, Capital Photographic, in Lansing in 1979.
Duaine was a member and past president of the Michigan Triangle Professional Photographers. He was a member of the Professional Photographers of America, Professional Photographers of Michigan and the Michigan Photographers Society. He was recognized for his photographic work on the local, state, regional and national level.
In daily work, his photographic subjects ranged from debutants, high school seniors, weddings and even a Michigan Supreme Court Justice. He also specialized in video for both consumer and corporate projects. Later in his career, he loved photographing nature and wildlife, doing so as he pursued his hobbies of hunting, fishing, canoeing and hiking.
He is survived by a sister, Marcia Mellick (James) of Milford Center, Ohio; two nieces Heather Bielawski (Chad) of Urbana, Ohio and Erin Tague (Justin) of Marysville, Ohio; three great-nieces Anna Bielawski, Sara Bielawski and Kierstyn Tague; two great-nephews Tristan Tague and Evan Tague. Special childhood friend and hunting buddy, Paul Ferguson (Jackson) will also miss him, as well as many others.
Duaine was a member of Lansing Central Free Methodist Church, 828 N. Washington Ave. He loved Jesus and his faith was steadfast. A memorial service will be held there on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11 am. as family and friends celebrate his life and share memories.
