

Emil A. Ruch, Jr., age 94, formerly of Detroit, went peacefully home to his Lord on September 24, 2014. He was preceded in death by Mary Ellen, his beloved wife of 67 years, his daughter Caroline, and his grandson Stephen Fishbeck.
He is survived by his children Margaret (Michael) Sloan, James (Mary Lee) Ruch, Patricia (David) DeRush, Michael Ruch, David/Tekchog (Linda) Ruch, Joseph (Tracey) Ruch, Mary Kay (Tom) Shields, and Daniel (Suzann) Ruch; grandchildren Matthew, Stephen, Alysia, Beth, Jenny, Emily, Skylar, Erin, Grace, William, Mary, Patrick, Kristin, Timothy, Zachary, Abigail, and 7 great grandchildren.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 25, 1919 to Emil and Helen (McCloskey) Ruch, the third child and eldest son of their eight children.
He served his country proudly during WWII in Northern Africa, China, Burma and India. He returned following the war to Detroit where he and Mary Ellen raised their nine children and were lifetime Detroit Tiger fans. He spent most of his professional career at the Detroit Edison Company in the area of Labor Relations.
A man of deep Catholic faith, he was an honored member of St. Anthony's and St. David's Catholic parishes in Detroit and, up to the time of his death, at St. Gerard's in Lansing.
The funeral Mass will take place at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing, at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 27, 2014 with visitation one hour prior. The family will receive guests at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing, on Friday from 1:00-4:00 PM and 5:30-8:00 PM with a rosary in his remembrance at 7:30 pm.
