

Freddie was born in Camden, Alabama, where he spent his childhood. When Freddie moved to Lansing, MI., he earned a GED and had a variety of jobs. He was employed at Melling and Forging Company, retiring after 10 years. At one time, Freddie was very active and enjoyed life. He had a passion for motorcycles and belonged to a Motorcycle Club, in Lansing. Freddie had many friends and was well liked by anyone who knew him. He had a loving relationship with his wife and family. Though Freddie developed Dementia, he was able to keep in regular contact with his Mother and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his Beloved Mother, Mrs. Lillie Mae Lawrence; step-father, Curtis Lawrence; brothers, Curtis Lee and Percy Lawrence; sister, Alice Lawrence Health; Special Aunt, Wyhoma Mendenhall.
Left to cherish his memories are: His wife, of almost 10 years, Deborah Chestnut-Hill; sons, Lamar Hill of Atlanta, Asaam and Akeem Atwood, both of Lansing; daughter, LaToya Hill of Lansing; brothers, Curley Lewis of Lansing, Earnest Hill of Columbus, Dwayne Lawrence of Birmingham; sisters, Marquitta Lawrence of Boston, Janice Tindle, Diane Lawrence, Rosiland Lawrence Walls, Yvette Lawrence (Orise) Hines, Veronica (William) Cole, all of Birmingham, Gwendolyn (Brian) Hardrick of Lansing; brother-in- laws, Julian and Wayne Chestnut, both of Lansing; 2 grandchildren; Special niece, Fatima McDaniel of Columbus, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Despite Freddie's medical conditions, he was able to pray with his wife and knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Freddie served in the Vietnam War and was very proud to be a Veteran of the United States Army. He will be honored at Fort Custer, in Battle Creek for his military service; his ashes will be laid to rest at the National Cemetery (at a later time). There will also be a Memorial/Repass Celebration held for Freddie (at a later time).
The entire family would like to thank Freddie's Caretaker and brother-in-law and longtime friend, Julian, who took excellent care of him for 8 years.
Freddie loved to eat and enjoyed barbecued ribs and chicken, steak and mostly everything else! He will always be in our hearts and thoughts!
