Gary Lee Barnes

Bath, MI

Born July 21, 1948 in Lansing, the son of John and Lorraine Barnes, passed away May 2, 2012 at the age of 63 after a courageous battle with numerous illnesses. Gary proudly served his country in the 101st Airborne of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He retired from Melling Forging Company after many years of service. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather as well as an avid outdoorsman. Gary was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and two brothers. Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dixie; daughter, Amanda (Douglas) Bilbrey; grandchildren, Candice, Zachary, Brandon, Tanner and Mariah Bilbrey; brother, Michael Barnes; sister, Margaret (Robert) Cantwell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing. The family will receive friends on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
