Gerald Mulder, 84, of Lansing, MI passed away on June 14, 2016 at his home. He was born on December 7, 1931 in Lansing, Michigan to Harriett and Geert Mulder. He married the love of his life Patricia (Comstock) Mulder on June 17, 1956. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. Jerry graduated from Lansing Eastern High School with the class of 1950. He was proud to have served in the U.S. Navy based in Pearl Harbor. He was proud to be co-owner of two family owned businesses, Geert D. Mulder & Sons Builders for over 50 years, and T & G Mulder, Building and Remodeling for over 20 years. He was a hard working business man and enjoyed helping his family. Jerry was actively involved in harness horse racing, bowling, golfing, fishing, hunting, and pinochle, building lasting friendships over the years. He was a member of the Michigan Harness Racing and United States Trotting Association for the past 25 years and owned several race horses, many of which he named after each of his grandchildren. The greatest joys in his life, aside from his wife, were his three children.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sister, Nancy (Richard) Taylor of York, PA; brother, Richard Mulder of Lansing, MI; Children, Thomas E. (Donna) Mulder of Grand Ledge, MI, Pamela L. (Bill) Peterson of Grand Ledge MI , and Timothy G. (Lisa) Mulder of Dewitt, MI; grandchildren, Amanda (Matt) Davis, Autumn Mulder; Trevor Peterson, Tyler Peterson, and Nathan Mulder; great-granddaughter Layla Davis, and his first great-grandson due in August; many nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Carroll Hagen, and brother Thomas B. Mulder.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Regency at Lansing West, McLaren Home Care Group, and Fresenius Medical Care. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lansing Veterans Community Base Outpatient Clinic 2025 South Washington Ave. Lansing, Mi 48910, and Capital Area Human Society 7095 W. Grand River Lansing, MI, 48906. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 16, 2016, from 6-8 P.M. and Friday June 17, 2016, 1:00 with visitation one hour prior to service at the Tiffany Funeral Home
