

Geraldine Ruth Evans formerly of Lansing and Dewitt passed away peacefully at age 97. She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, aunt and friend to many. Geraldine had suffered through the various stages of Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease since 2013.
Geraldine's journey through life was a long one. She began school at a little one-room schoolhouse on the corner of Pine Tree and Dell Road in Holt just a short distance from the family farm. After high school she worked as a nurses aide in a hospital. In 1942 she married Albert Evans. Just six weeks after their marriage Albert was drafted as part of the world war two efforts. Geraldine followed her husband to Camp Forest in Tennessee while there she worked as a nurse's aide at the base hospital. Following the war they settled in Lansing where she and Albert began raising the family that would become three sons and several grand children, great-grand children, great-great grand children.
She was born Geraldine Ruth Weaver on February 2nd, 1923 in Haslett, Michigan. She was the sixth of seven children born to Fernando and Inez (Chatfield) Weaver. Her husband Albert, son Michael and infant daughter Jan Marie, preceded her in death.
She is survived by sons Stephen (Cheryl) and Mark (Heidi), and 15 grand children, great grand children and great, great grand children.
A special thank you to daughter in-law Donna (Michael) Evans, and granddaughter Deanna Evans-Wagner who stayed by her side in her last hours.
