Gordon "Gordy" L Smith, a beloved and cherished resident of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on October 20, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on April 18, 1947, in Lansing, Michigan, to Nathaline and Lewis Smith. Gordy was known for his gentle nature and his dedication to his family and passions.
Throughout his life, Gordy worked in various construction roles, showcasing his skills and commitment to his craft. He was married and divorced twice, first to Patricia Jacob and then to Vicki Rhode Williams. Gordy was a devoted father to his children: John St John (Smith), Stacie Duke, Paul Smith, Jason Smith, and Amanda Smith. He also leaves behind his four loving sisters: Robin Spencer, Linda Smith, Cindy Smith Bayer, and Colleen Law. Gordy is survived by 13 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, who will carry on his legacy.
Gordy had a passion for fishing and enjoyed working on and flying life-sized scale model airplanes. He also found joy in playing the guitar and spending time with his many dogs, which were a significant part of his life.
A memorial service to honor Gordy's life will be held on October 24, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at VFW Post 6132, located at 3104 W St Joseph St, Lansing, Michigan. Family, friends, and all who knew Gordy are invited to attend and celebrate his life. (family is asking that you bring a dish to pass)
