Harold passed away April 18th at the age of 82 surrounded by his family. He was born October 25, 1928 to Anthony and Catherine (Fitzpatrick) Schneider in Clinton County. Harold was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marrietta (Abfalter), whom he married on May 12, 1951. He was also preceded in death by his sister Irene Baughman, brother Francis Schneider, brother-in-law Howard “Bud” Price, grandsons Daniel Schaub, Thomas Schneider and Timothy Schneider. Surviving him are daughter Joan (Celestine) Schaub, 4 sons Steven (Marla Slucter) Schneider, Ronald Schneider (Lynn Niles), Greg Schneider (Dianna Minzey), Mike Schneider (Denise Sheaffer), 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, brother-in-law Jerry Baughman, sister Dorothy Price, several nieces and nephews, very special friend Mary Margaret Rogozinski and her children Jon Rogozinski and Ann Rogozinski. Harold was a humble and gentle soul who loved his wife, family and friends. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1946, served in the U.S. Air Force, and received an associate’s degree from LCC in Applied Technology. He was a member of Holy Cross Church for 53 years, and more recently a member of St. Therese Parish. He retired, after 28 years of service, from the Board of Water and Light in 1984. Harold served the community as a volunteer for Catholic Charities, the Old Newboys, and the American Red Cross as a blood donor. For many years he spent time up north with family at his camp. He was a volleyball enthusiast, always looking to pick up a game even into his 80’s. He enjoyed riding his bike especially on the river trail. He was a tinkerer, a self-taught auto mechanic, and liked watching and going to auto races. He was an avid reader and enjoyed anything related to history, aviation and space. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, April 25th at noon at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, 102 W. Randolph, Lansing. Visitation Sunday from 6-8 with Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:30 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing and 1 hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
