Age 79, died December 27, 2006 in Lansing. Herman was born May 30, 1927 and was the son of Henry and Ethel (Harvey) Van Drie. Herman was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Naval Air Corps, receiving his Air Medal and Purple Heart. He was an active member of the Church of the Resurrection, member #11099 Mgr. Gabriel's Council, Knights of Columbus and Bishop Albers Assembly-4th Degree. Herman spent most of his life as a master baker and cake decorator. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Norine; daughters, Martha (Baisel) Rhynard of Bath and Linda Van Drie of Reading, PA; son, Kurt (Nancy) Van Drie of Cape Coral, FL; sister, Peggy (Raymond) Hamilton of Midland; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Henry Jr. and infant son, Gary. Visitation will be 2-4, 6-8pm Friday, December 29, 2006 with a 7pm Rosary at Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 West Saginaw, Lansing 48917. The Funeral Liturgy will be 10:00AM Saturday December 30, 2006 at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with Father William J. Koenigsknecht officiating. The Rite of Committal will be Calvary Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Resurrection Churches St. Vincent DePaul Society, 1531 E.
