

Huey was born on October 23, 1954 in Greenville, AL to the Union of Ernest and Beulah Mae Peterson. He attended the Montgomery Public School System and accepted Christ at an early age. He moved to Lansing, MI at the age of 18 where he made lots of friends because he could reel you in with that infectious smile, witty personality and his kind and compassionate spirit, he never met a stranger. He loved playing basketball so much that he joined the Lansing City League where in a single game he scored 81 points. Some of his other favorite things to do was gathering with family and friends for Cookouts, playing Checkers, Domino’s , shooting Poole with friends, listening to music and dancing, watching sports on T.V..
Huey met Millie Stone in 1984, they were married in 1985 and stayed together for 38 years without ever separating. They had a very strong Union. Millie never left his side, she was his everything and one of the ways he showed how much he loved her was by showering her with surprises like jewelry, perfumes and clothes that he would order from different catalogs and anything else that would put a big smile on her face as she honored her wedding vows until his demise.
Huey worked for Hull’s Professional Cleaning Service where he became a master at stripping and waxing the floors of different offices in Lansing downtown area and some prisons in the State of Michigan until he retired officially on his birthday in 2020.
Huey and Millie joined God’s Worship Center Church in 2011 under the leadership of Bishop Cedric Pruitt.
They were faithful members and Huey became a Deacon soon after. He loved playing the Harmonica and Tambourine in Church and the Congregation enjoyed hearing him play.
Huey was preceded in death by his father Ernest, his mother Beulah, his brother Early, sister Earlene Bradford, and father-In Law Herman Stone, Sr., special friend Shirley Simpson.
He leaves to cherish his memories a devoted wife Millie Louise Peterson; one son Mythius Blackman Sr., three grandchildren, Mythius Blackman Jr., Myionne Blackman, Myonna Blackman and a special daughter, Shonetoyia James (all in Lansing, MI). Siblings, Addie Mae Peterson (Montgomery, AL), Annie Lois Smith (Lansing, MI), Annie Pearl Owens (Lansing, MI), Andrea “Tina” Withers (Lansing, MI), Retired Command Sergeant Major Ernest (Angela) Peterson (Austin, TX), Cassandra Taylor (Montgomery, AL), Lolita Curtis (Montgomery, AL), Louise (Abraham) Thomas (Atlanta, GA) and Earnestine Peterson (Virginia). His Brother In-Law Herman “Simon”(Clementine) Stone, Jr. Lansing, MI) and Gene Turner ( Talledega, AL). He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of nieces, nephews (a special acknowledgment to his nephew Meglasius Harris) and other relatives and friends from near and far. Special friend, Andrea “Shelle” Giles.
