

Irene M. Grachek, age 92, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. She was born February 20, 1930 in Ludington, MI, the daughter of Edward and Mary Jankowski. She graduated from St. Simon High School in June of 1947.
Irene worked as a secretary for Thompson's Cabinet Company from 1947-1951. In 1951 she moved to Lansing and worked for Michigan State Police Fire Marshall Division. She met her husband, David, in Lansing and they were married in 1957. After her children were older, Irene returned to work at Michigan Farm Bureau and retired from Ren Plastics / Ciba-Geigy.
Irene and her husband were founding members of St. Gerard Church and she was a member of the Quilting Circle. She enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, quilting, sewing, baking, traveling, and painting. She played a huge role in raising her grandchildren and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Maureen (Scott) Tredwell, David J. (Donna) Grachek Jr., Karen (Theodore) Cimafranca, Nancy (Fred) Kapp, Paul (Shara) Grachek; grandchildren, Paul Tredwell and Rebecca Tredwell, Christina (Nicholas) Busse and Caroline Grachek, Jennifer (Ray Black) Dickey, Casey and Quentin Kapp, Darby and Brooks (Hannah Lumpkin) Grachek; great-grandchildren, Louisa Busse, Sierra Cimafranca, Grace Dickey, Laura and Lily Black, and great-granddaughter expected in February 2023.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David; brother, Jerry Jankowski and sister, Phyllis Hallberg; grandson, Theodore Cimafranca, Jr.
A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 pm Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Gorsline-Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 W. Saginaw, with the Rosary prayed at 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am Friday at St. Gerard Church with visitation from 9:30 am until the time of Mass. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass. The Rite of Committal will be at 2:00 pm at St. Joseph Cemetery.
