

Age 85, died May 14, 2011; born September 5, 1925 in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Balzer retired from Oldsmobile after 35 years of service and served in the U.S. Navy in both WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Balzer of 53 years and his mother, Marie Balzer. Surviving are his 3 sons, Ronald (Johanna) Balzer, Dean (Lisa) Balzer and Robert Balzer; grandchildren, Kathryn (Stephen) Reed, Shannon (Jeff) Proctor, Sunshine (Tishyn) Mildton, Jeremiah (Micaela) Balzer, and Lorinda (Nicholas) Starr; great-grandchildren, Gregory Armstrong, Nicholas, Nathan, and Madisyn Reed, Kalyn Proctor, Jack Balzer and Xayvion Mildton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 19, at Noon at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing with the Rev. Mark Johnson of the Gunnisonville United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in North Cemetery, Lansing. The family will receive friends at the Chapel Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
