Our loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away on May 7, 2017. Born July 10, 1935 in Lansing, MI. Jack's love for woodworking led him to his lifelong career of homebuilding as a framer, then as a finish carpenter. He lived in Lansing until 1999, then built their retirement home at Houghton Lake and enjoyed fishing and boating, visiting with neighbors and being outdoors. He was a 1954 graduate of Eastern High School.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Patricia Ann Dowell (Keeler); parents, Lawson and Virginia Dowell; brother, Jerry Dowell; sister, Gwili Waker.
Surviving are his 2 sons, Brent J. Dowell (Pamela), and Spencer Jay Dowell; 6 grandchildren Brad Dowell (Tina), Bill Dowell, Jordan Dowell (Melissa), Adrienne Dowell-Schulz (Cliff), Spencer Jay Dowell II, and Katie Dowell; 7 great-grandchildren, Mikayla Dowell, Michael Dowell, Brittany Snell, Daniel Snell, Liam Schulz, Makayla Dowell, and Aubree VanNortwick.
