Died Feb. 6, 2015, age 88. He knew hardship growing up in Detroit during the depression but still had many fond memories, particularly working in Mr. Harms’ hardware store. In WWII he served as a naval aviator gunner/radioman and then afterwards met and married the love of his life, Gwen Mellen. They shared a wonderful life together for 53 years before her death; raised and nurtured three children, Jim, Michele, and Ed, and grandson Matthew – all whom love and miss him dearly. He was proud of working for IBM as an office products salesman and his many friendships with colleagues and customers. He was a long time member of the Lions, and the local Boy Scout council leadership. He enjoyed boating, golf, and especially time spent with friends in church fellowship activities: “mushers” and “free wheelers”. He honored his parents Edward and Ester, and cherished his friends and family. Let him be remembered for his civility, love and respect of others and for his faith in a loving and just God.
