James graduated from Eastern High School and dedicated his career to the State of Michigan. He began as a seasonal flagger and worked his way up to Assistant to the Chief of Highway Department with the Department of Transportation and Highway Construction, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment to public service.
He is survived by his children, Laura Hinman (Troy) and John Olmstead (Laura); his sister, Sandra Conklin; brother-in-law, James Lewis; and grandchildren Devin Muylle, Stephanie Muylle, Andrea Magee (Max), Amara Sluder, and Dianne Olmstead. He is also remembered by nieces Susan Russell (Dick), Brenda Sauceda (Jimmy), and Carla Lofton (Chris), along with several other nieces and nephews. James is preceded in death by his sister Janet Lewis.
James’s dedication to his work and family left a lasting impact on those who knew him. His memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
