

James Le'Shun "Shawn" Snell, was born on September 18, 1967, in Chicago, Illinois, to Willie Mae Snell and James Trull. He was the second child of three siblings. He gained his wings on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, and is now whole, healthy, and free.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Trull; grandparents, Willie & Mozella Snell, and Robert & Catherine Brookins, and sister, Lisa Snell Duncan.
Shawn graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. He worked at various jobs for several years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, the LA Lakers, and the New York Yankees. Michigan State University was also one of his favorite teams.
Shawn confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. He attended Vision of Love Ministries with the late Pastor Cora Duncan. He later became a member of Walk in Truth Ministries with Pastor Tracy Edmonds Sr.
Shawn was blessed with nine children; six sons and three daughters. He loved his children and would do whatever he could for them. Shawn loved his family and enjoyed being a part of every family gathering. He especially enjoyed when the family gathered around the table for a savory meal.
Shawn leaves to cherish his memory, his six sons, Jordan, James, Dominique, Joshua, Vance, and Ernest; three daughters, Toria, Saazare "Sage", and Jazzmine; mother, Willie Mae (Sam) Williams, four brothers, Derrick Alexander, Darnell Harris, Sammie (Sparkle) Williams, and Kelvin Williams; four sisters, Saundra Boles, Pam (Andrew) Howard. Yvonne (Virgil Roundtree, and Sandra (Jay) Singleton: several grandchildren, two aunts, Robin Fountain and Diane Hunter, and one uncle, Lamont Brookins; one brother-in-law, Marshall Terry Duncan Sr. one godson, Donavon Crusoe; a host of nephews, nieces - special niece - RocQuelle Snell and special nephew - Martwan James: a host of cousins, one special cousin - Rory Gene Crusoe, and a number of friends.
Visitation for James will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 10:00 AM at Walk In Truth Ministries, 505 Seymour Ave, Lansing, MI 48933. The funeral service will follow at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
The family and out of town guests will be served at Reachout Christian Center Fellowship Hall, 5628 Wise Rd., Lansing, Michigan, immediately after internment.
