

James was born July 16,1946 in Turrell, Arkansas. James moved to Lansing, Michigan at a young age with his family. He graduated from J.W. Sexton High School in 1966. He later attended classes at Lansing Community College and served in the United States Army. He worked and retired from General Motors Corporation after 35 years of service.
James was known for his quiet smile, laughter, athleticism, and attitude of a servant. It was nothing for him to cut a lawn, perform handyman duties or stop by and sit with you for a visit. In his spare time he loved to bowl, spend time with his family and serve Jehovah. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on December 10, 2000 in Lansing, Michigan. It was in Lansing where he met his wife of 52 years, Geraldine. They married August 28, 1971.
James is preceded in death by his Mother and Father; Lillie and Jethro Washington; siblings: Ella, Jonathan, Ora, Samuel and Eula of Lansing, Michigan.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife Geraldine, son Kenneth (Kim) Washington and daughter, Renee (Armand) Lockett; his beloved grandchildren: Christine, Bassam, Kenneth, Kameron, Collin, Zakariya, Kierra, Joshua, Armani, Haneef and Landon; his great grandson's: Christopher, Noah and Jonah; Two brothers, one sister, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, whom he loved deeply.
