Janet K. Murphy

Lansing, MI

Passed away October 21, 2014 in Lansing, MI; age 76. She was born May 13, 1938 in Hastings, Michigan. Graduated from Hastings High School, Cosmetology School, and Michigan State University, School of Business (BA). She retired in 2000 as CEO of M J Murphy Beauty Corporation, a chain of five schools. She was involved in legislative trade efforts and served as officer in numerous state trade associations. Retirement years’ were spent playing golf, water color painting, gardening, and mahjongg. She wintered in Florida and was active in the leadership of the Pompano Beach Club Women’s club. She was predeceased by her husband, Michael J. Murphy (1998); parents, Howard J and Agnes (McDonald) Edmonds; and Sister, Joyce Edmonds Roderick. Survivors include daughter, Stacey Shane Rottman; grand-daughter, Jessica L. Stinchcomb; brother, Jack A (Susanne) Edmonds; Nieces, nephew and three stepsons. Special thank you to Hospice House of Mid-Michigan for all their care, Janet’s golf league, and her Mahjongg group for all their friendship over the years. Per her request there will be no visitation or services. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel.
