Janice Land

Janice Elaine Land passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 18, 2016. Beloved wife of Ronald Land, married for 53 years in May, and loving mother of Kristine Nelson (Brian) of Traverse City, MI and Kimberly Land of Petaluma, CA. She adored her two grandchildren, Meredith and Grant, and was always so interested in everything about them. Janice was an active member of Trinity UMC, and more recently Dimondale UMC for 46 years. She served the church in many capacities. Her family and faith were the main priorities in her life. She loved to travel and have grand adventures, garden, watch mysteries and Jane Austen movies on television, and dote on her much loved pets. She also enjoyed writing in her journal. Her family will cherish the memories and stories that she has recorded. Janice served as an Eaton County Commissioner for ten years and was active on the Friends of the Park and the Eaton County Housing Commission for years after her tenure. Janice received her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Michigan State University in 1962. She actively followed politics and policy throughout her life.

Janice is also survived by her sister, Kathryn Brasser (Carl) of Nashville, TN and brother, Larry Woodruff (Lisa Martin) of Grand Ledge, MI, and many loved family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Myrtle and Leland Woodruff, and brother, Thomas Woodruff.

Janice will be missed for her beautiful smile, and the thoughtful, giving way that she loved those she cared about and those that she served.

Funeral Services will be held 1pm, Thursday, September 22nd, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI with the Rev. Joe Huston officiating. Interment will follow at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends on Thursday at the funeral home from 10 am to 1 pm.
