Janice Noreen Hampshire, born on May 20, 1961, in Ionia, Michigan, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Lansing, Michigan. Her passing marks the loss of a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose warmth and resilience touched many lives.
Janice grew up on a farm in Michigan, where she developed a strong work ethic and a fearless spirit. From an early age, she could drive a tractor as well as any of the boys—a testament to her determination and independence. These qualities would carry her through life and shape the woman she became.
She dedicated her professional life to accounting and payroll, fields that perfectly suited her natural affinity for numbers. Janice was known for her precision and dedication in her work. She not only excelled professionally but also found joy in the structure and clarity that numbers brought her.
Family was at the heart of Janice’s world. She is lovingly remembered by her children: daughters Laurie M. Eierman and Rebecca L. Eierman; son Michael P. Rose and daughter-in-law Melissa L. Rose; and son-in-law Gregory R. Eierman. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Megan A. Eierman, Rebecca L. Eierman, Daniel R. Eierman (Myah), Christian Butgereit (Erin), Alexa R. Eierman-Denman (Nick), and Carrie A. Eierman; as well as her great-grandchildren: Connor, Liam, Cash, Corey, and Brantly.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband Donald R. Rose; son Brian D. Rose; granddaughter Katelynn M. Eierman; parents Arvilla R. Steele and Floyd C. Hampshire; sister Joyce E. LeValley; and brother Harold D. Hampshire.
Holidays were especially meaningful to Janice—she loved cooking for family gatherings and was famous for her pies and Christmas cookies that brought joy to every table they graced. In earlier years, she enjoyed bowling nights with friends, sewing projects that showcased her creativity, and lively games of bingo.
In quieter moments later in life, Janice found comfort in watching Hallmark Christmas movies—her favorites—and immersing herself in westerns or a good mystery or detective series on TV or Netflix.
Janice had an unwavering belief that everything happens for a reason and always tried to see the best in every situation—a perspective that inspired those around her during both joyful times and challenges alike.
She will be greatly missed by her family and those who knew her, but heaven gained the best angel when she received her wings.
May her memory bring comfort to all who loved her.
