Jeff was born February 4, 1970 in Lansing, Michigan, to Danny K. and Cynthia S. (Woodhams) Allison. He grew up in Grayling, Michigan, and returned to Lansing to raise his family. He worked as a truck driver for many years before finding a home and a family with Mercer Transportation, who he leased through for the past five years. When he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed working on his truck and his cars, riding ATVs, and spending time with his kids.
Truck driving was Jeff’s life: he was raised a truck driver, taught to be a truck driver, lived life as a truck driver, and passed that legacy on to his two children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Danny K. Allison, his stepfather, Ernest Charles Gregg, his son, Danny James Allison, his nephew, Gregory Walker Springs, and his beloved grandfather, Eugene Woodhams.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Mandie (Lindsey) Allison; his children, Jeffery and Trudy Allison; his sisters, Sandra (William) Johnson and Shannon (Paul) Thompson; his in-laws, Trudy and James Lindsey; his sister-in-law, Taska (Gregory) Springs; his nieces and nephews, Frances Walker, Zak (Ariel) Johnson, Jennifer Johnson, Lura (Brandon) Lefke, Douglas Vaughn, William Vaughn, and Martesha Williams; five great nieces and one great nephew; and his best friend, Thomas Hood.
According to his wishes, no services will be held. He will continue to be honored as the best man at his nephew’s wedding.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jeff’s honor to his family or to the Missing Truck Driver Alert Network at www.missingtruckdriver.com.
Truck Driver's Prayer:
Dear God above, bless this truck I drive
And help me keep someone alive
Be my mortal sight today
On streets where the little children play
Bless my helper fast asleep
When the night is long and deep
And keep my cargo safe and sound
Through the hours big and round
Make my judgment sound as steel
And be my hands upon the wheel
Bless the travelers going past
And teach him not to go so fast
Give me the strength for every trip
So I may care for what they ship
And make me mindful every mile
That life is just a little while.
