Joan Marie Wesley of DeWitt, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the age of 89. She was born on August 19, 1935, in Lansing, Michigan to Leo and Maggie Stevens. She attended and graduated from Lansing Schools. Joan was married to the love of her life James Herbert Wesley on June 21, 1958, in Lansing, and shared 58 years of wedded bliss together, before James passing.
Joan loved caring for her family, sewing, camping with family and friends in Northern Michigan, family snowmobile rides, and family rides in the dune buggy that James and their boys built and Joan sewed a top for to keep the sun off them on their rides. As their children grew up; Joan enjoyed, going on trips with James on their Goldwing Motorcycle, square dancing with friends, and visiting with friends and family.
Joan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James; her parents; her brother, Mr. Leo Junior Stevens of Lansing; and 4 sisters, Mrs. Zella Latendresse of Pontiac, Mrs. Alice Havens of Lansing, Mrs. Virginia Johnson of Howell, and Mrs. Evelyn Underhill of Lansing. Surviving to cherish her memory are Joan and James 4 children, Leo (Joyce) Wesley, Steven (Julie) Wesley, Linda (Bob) Clarke, and Glenn Wesley; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Joan and James were members of Resurrection Church of Lansing.
A memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, August 14 at 11:00 am at the Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E Michigan Ave. Lansing, Michigan; with the family receiving friends one hour prior to the start of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan’s name to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or the Church of the Resurrection.
