Age 77, our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother died May 26, 2013. Born March 14, 1936 in Keyser, W.V. John was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving in the Korea War. He was a member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge #33 F.& A.M., Morley S. Oates V.F.W. Post #701, the American Legion-Mt. Moriah Post #460. He retired in 1993 as a journeyman in the technical layout at General Motors Plant 3 in Lansing after 33 years of service, and he was a member of U.A.W. #652. In retirement, he worked for the Lansing State Journal for a number of years.
Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ena Baker; 4 children, Michael (MaryJo) Baker, Richard (Jeri) Baker, Joena (Ronald) Marlin, and Greg (Melanie) Baker; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gwen (Jim) Graham,, and Roberta Baker; 2 brothers, William (Barbara) Baker, and James (Sara) Baker; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Pauline Baker; sister, Elizabeth Baker and 2 brothers, Richard & Paul Baker.
Visitation is from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday with a 7:00 P.M. Masonic Service in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 31, at the First United Methodist Church, 3827 Delta River Dr. Lansing, with Rev. Melanie Baker officiating. Viewing will be from 10 to 11 A.M. Friday at church. Interment Deepdale Memorial Park. Contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Capital Area Humane Society or the Masonic Home in Alma.
