John was born in Saginaw, MI on September 28, 1977, to John David Mireles and Irma Estela Medina, their first and only son. He attended schools within the Lansing community and surrounding areas. John was proud of his long tenure at Meijer Warehouse, employed for 23 years. Throughout those years, John proudly served as a Union Steward, always willing to help his coworkers with questions or concerns, and worked with many beloved family members and friends.
John was an avid softball player, and played in many different local leagues and won many championships with his various teammates. He prided himself on being one of the best pitchers around. John is a member of the Mireles family, many of whom bowled in local leagues, and is one of the elites who bowled a perfect 300 game in 2003.
John enjoyed his sports, and rooted for the MSU Spartans and Dallas Cowboys. He was very polite to those who rooted for other teams, she wrote sarcastically. John was a hardcore fan and very loyal to his favorite teams, and made sure everyone knew the real GOAT is #23, Michael Jordan.
The most fun John had was as a kid, going to WrestleMania III at the Pontiac Silverdome with his dad, and then WrestleMania 39 in Inglewood, CA, with his children, this year. John’s children allowed him to stay young at heart. He was a passionate man for those he loved and lived for his children and their happiness. John took after his dad and was charming, funny, and empathetic. He cared for others and was always checking in on people. John also had the very best beard in all of Lansing.
John was a true Mama’s Boy and is survived by the most amazing mother, Irma (Ray), five beautiful children Mariah (daughter of Carmen), Alex, Johnathan, John III, and Jose (sons of Mellisa Mireles). Also surviving, big sister Cathy (Jose), and her children Elysia, Aaron, Shawn, Cristianna, Jose III, and Antonio, and Cathy’s grandkids Londynn, Selena, and Shawn Jr.; little sister Suzi (Tysen) and their son Tysen Jr., all from Lansing. Surviving maternal grandparents Augustine and Paula Medina, from Texas. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, including special friend Marisol, and pupper Zeke.
Preceded in death by paternal grandparents Pedro and Evangeline Mireles and the most wonderful father John David Mireles, whose loss John never truly recovered from, in 1993, and precious nephew, Baby Jojo.
A funeral service for John will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2023 at 1:00 PM, with a two-hour prior visitation from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 West Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48917.
A huge thank you to all of those who donated to the GoFundMe in support of John and his family. May your generosity be returned to you in many blessings.
