John G. Moffitt II passed away on November 7, 2022 at the age of 67 in his hometown of Lansing, Michigan. John was born July 30, 1955 to Marguerite (Wilson) and Donn Moffitt. He attended Eastern High School and worked for many years as a pin setter mechanic at Holiday Lanes Bowling Alley.
Over the years John had various interests including crosswords, building models, bowling, golf, riding and working on his motorcycle and trike, playing cards, and spending time with friends and family. John was generous, laidback, kind, thoughtful, and gentle. While he wasn’t big on ‘the mushy stuff’ John always made sure people knew he cared. In addition to caring for friends and family he also cared about others he didn’t know in the form of charities. He was always willing to donate to causes and had a special place in his heart for those devoted to helping children with brain cancer.
John was preceded in death by his mother Marge and father Donn, stepfather Art Meck, and stepfather Bob Rostorfer.
John is survived by his wife Pam, stepdaughter Laura Olson, granddaughter Sasha Lopez, sister Sandy (Mickey) Fountain, brother Jeffrey (Mechelle) Moffitt, nephew Michael Fountain, niece Jordynn Fountain, cousin Sally (Jim) Morse, cousin Randy Wilson, and many more relatives and friends.
We would like to give special thanks to John’s brother Jeffrey for his love and generosity, Mike and Ella Dikeman for being John’s best friends for over 50 years and always being there, and Tim Penfield for his friendship.
John had many health battlers over the years, and he was a real fighter. It has been said by many that he was like a cat with nine lives with everything he had been through and conquered. We will all miss John and his humor, loyalty, and love.
At John’s request there will be no funeral, service, or memorial. It feels hard to say goodbye but perhaps that was part of his plan. Rather than goodbye we will just say “See you later”. Rest in peace Johnny.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.grlansing.com for the Moffitt family.
