Juanita Marie Messeroll was born on March 17, 1926, to J. Vernon and Agnes Buerge in Lansing, Michigan. She passed away on January 16, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who loved all her family with her whole heart. She cared with an unselfish spirit, a radiant smile and a twinkle in her eye. She encouraged and inspired everyone around her. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Messeroll in 1944 after graduating from Sexton High School and were married 68 years. She and her husband were active members of Central Free Methodist Church where Juanita served as a Sunday school teacher and a young teen leader for many years. She was also active in women's groups and sang in the choir. Her strong faith and love for God was evident in her everyday life of service and love.
Juanita made delicious cakes and decorated them with an artistic touch for birthdays, weddings and more. She was a seamstress, making both of her daughter's wedding dresses. She loved gardening, growing flowers and vegetables and being a property manager. She and her husband enjoyed trips to Germany, England, Scotland and Hawaii as well as traveling coast to coast in the US with family.
Family times together were an important and big part of their lives. We will miss Juanita's beautiful spirit, which dementia didn't steal. We look forward to seeing her in heaven, whole in body and mind. We are grateful for the positive impact she had on our lives and her legacy of Christian faith and love to cherish and move forward with.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Dianna (Kenneth) Smith, LeAnne Brissette, William (Jerilyn) Messeroll, and Kenneth Messeroll; her grandchildren, Gregory (Page) Smith, Kevin Smith, Gretchen (Wes) Stevenson, Sabra (Scott) Quigley, Barron Brissette, and Jamie, Harper, and Willa Messeroll; and her great grandchildren, Rylee, Colton, Malachi, Ezekiel, Gideon, Anna, and Abigail Smith; Jacob, Jenna, and Joshua Stevenson; and Aspen, Quentin and Cormack Quigley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Messeroll; parents, J. Vernon and Agnes M. Buerge; sisters, Wanda Tyner and Verna Karkau; and her great grandchildren, Marie and Gaile Stevenson.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the McLaren hospice staff including the nurses, massage therapist, music therapists, CNAs and chaplains. Your care and love shown to Juanita over the last few years has given our entire family a tremendous amount of comfort and peace.
