Julia Isabel Gutierrez Torralva

Julia Gutierrez Torralva, age 68, of the Lansing area, passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023. Julia was born to Ismael and Maria Samaniego Gutierrez on May 23, 1954 in Saginaw, Michigan. Julia was a God loving spitfire of a woman. She loved to laugh, dance and have fun. It was clear to everyone around her that she was full of life whether it was having a blast at the thrift store, drinking a margarita, cooking for her family, or making everyone wait to talk to her until she had her morning coffee and cigarette. Coming from a big family and making one of her own, she was able to truly show what a nurturing and loving woman she was. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Corina (Curtis) Isom, Monique (Michael) Meyers, Simona (CJ) Patton, and Lena Torralva; her siblings, David Gutierrez, Mary (Hector) Martinez, Jim (Carol) Gutierrez, Esperanza (Felix) Herrera, Rosario Gutierrez, Susana (Juan) Rodriguez, and Ismael Jr (Christina) Gutierrez; her brother-in-law Roger Barbour and sister-in-law Sandra Gutierrez; 16 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rojelio Torralva; and her siblings, Anna Barbour and Alfredo Gutierrez.

A celebration of life for Julia will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023 at 3pm at The Bread House, 5606 S. Martin Luther King Blvd., led by Pastor Victor Trevino.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses (517-482-1533).
