Katherine May Twining

On October 6th, 2025, while surrounded by family, the Lord brought Katherine May Twining home to be with him. Katherine was born on October 5th, 1945, to Daniel and Marjorie Kurzewski in Big Rapids, Michigan.

Katherine met the love of her life, Harold, while attending Ferris State College. They married in July 1965 and moved to Lansing, MI. Together they raised two wonderful daughters and in 1974 the family moved to Okemos, MI where they spent the remainder of their lives together.

Katherine was a beautiful woman, inside and out. Her dedication to her family and those around her made her a beloved woman who was cherished by all that met her. Her greatest priorities were God and her family. Her legacy will live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Katherine will be dearly missed by not only her loving family but all who knew her.

Katherine was very active in her church, volunteering in the church nursery, children’s Sunday school classes, and the hospitality ministry. Katherine served as church secretary for South Church of the Nazarene for many years. She then worked as an administrative assistant for the Michigan Beef Commission until she retired.

Katherine was preceded in death by her father and mother, Daniel and Marjorie Kurzewski and her father and mother-in-law, Harold and Lillie Twining. She is survived by her loving husband, Harold Twining; children, Debbie (Brian) Dorian and Anne (Robert) Sawyers; grandchildren, Lance Dorian, Jensine (Bobby) Garza, Codi (Kiesha) Plaskett, Shane (Shelby) Sawyers, and Carson (Nadia) Sawyers; great-grandchildren, Juliet and Maxine Garza and Miles and Lenny Plaskett; and sister-in-law, Patricia (Arnold) Hillman.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 pm Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service.
