Kathleen was born to Robert and Janet Bancroft and dedicated her life to service, learning, and faith. She earned her associate degree from Lansing Community College and her bachelor’s degree from Tennessee Temple. She proudly served her country in the United States Navy, attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class.
Following her military service, Kathleen worked for the State of Michigan until her retirement. She was also a devoted tutor, deeply passionate about education, and actively involved in prison ministry. Kathleen was known for her strong faith, steadfast values, and was a proud Republican. In her quieter moments, she found joy in reading and knitting.
Kathleen is survived by her sister, Aleta (Rob) Ledford; her son, Jim (Cristi) Brophy; her grandchildren, Cordy Brophy, Jolin (Chris Sherard) Brophy, Cale Brophy, and Jaxon (Caylee Scribner) Brophy; and her great-grandchildren, Alan and Lilly. She is also lovingly remembered by her close friends, Jeff Gloria Michael and Tony Thomas.
A funeral service for Kathy will be held on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, at Gorsline Runciman Lansing Chapel, 900 E Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912, Pastor Carol officiating. Following the service, full military honors will be conducted at Fort Custer National Cemetery, where Kathy will be laid to rest at 1:30 PM, 15501 Dickman Rd, Augusta, MI 49012.
