During his youth, Kenneth moved with his family to Florida, where he later graduated from Hernando High School in Brooksville, Florida, Class of 1959. At the age of 12, Kenneth accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a teen center, marking the beginning of a lifelong walk of faith that guided every season of his life.
Kenneth dearly loved the Lord. He never missed an opportunity to speak about Jesus and share the message of Christ with anyone willing to listen. He genuinely loved people, never met a stranger, and believed deeply in the transforming power of God's love. His faith was evident not only in his words, but in the way he lived, served, and loved others.
Kenneth learned the construction trade working alongside his father and continued in the field throughout his life. After graduating from high school, he returned to Michigan and later established his own business, KB Construction Company working with close friends The Hagan Family on many construction sites. A master builder by trade, Kenneth was known for his craftsmanship, dedication, and strong work ethic. His favorite truck used in his construction work was Bobcat and Excavators, which he spoke of with pride.
His hobbies included fishing with friends, working in construction with his father, playing the guitar at church, and serving at the teen center where his faith journey began. Kenneth also cherished his loyal dog, Sam, and his two beloved cats Taz and Ellie, who brought him comfort and companionship.
Kenneth was a faithful member of Faith Tabernacle Church of Lansing for over 20 years. He worshiped and served under the leadership of Pastor Francis Dunn, and after her passing, continued under Pastor Dana Jackson and Pastor Lisa, remaining steadfast in his commitment to his church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth C. Badgley and June L. Badgley (Hammons); his daughter, Velvet Ann Fowers; and his granddaughter, Sarah.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Cora Bell Gilmore Badgley, whom he affectionately called "Hunny." He is also survived by his sons, Kenneth R. Badgley, Jr. and Buck William Badgley.
He is survived by his siblings: Randall V. Badgley (Janice), Tom L. Badgley (Doris), David J. Badgley (Charlotte), Terry J. Badgley (Pat), Bruce A. Badgley (Patti), Dale R. Badgley (Sandy), Steven R. Badgley (Rosemary), Susan K. Badgley, and Mark L. Badgley (Vanessa).
He also leaves to cherish his memory the children he embraced as his own: Tommie (Kimberly) Kemp of Lansing, Michigan; Kevin (Stephanie) Kemp of Lansing, Michigan; Wendy (Eugene) Murchison of Lansing, Michigan; Veronica (Jefferey) Arnold of Crowley, Texas; Demekia Minor of Indianapolis, Indiana; and Marcele Cooper of Lansing, Michigan.
He is further survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, including a special Sister-in-Love, Irener Gilmore.
His dearest friends, Pete Wilson and Bill Rogers, were more like brothers, sharing a lifetime of friendship. Kenneth will be deeply missed, and life will not be the same without him, but he will forever live on through the cherished memories shared.
