

With shock and sadness, we announce that Kevin James Meaton, 69, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on February 7, 2024. Kevin is survived by his two children, William Joseph Meaton and Mallory Jayne Meaton, and his beloved, Lea Collins. Kevin is also survived by his seven siblings, Jane Norris, Carol Goucher, Melinda Hollembaek, Kathy Huggins, Brian (Jenny) Meaton, William Frederick Meaton, and Rick (Lori) Meaton. He was predeceased by his parents, William Charles Meaton and Shirley Ann Meaton, and brothers-in-law, Chuck Norris, and John Hollembaek.
Kevin’s love for his children knew no bounds. As a father, Kevin was a pillar of unwavering support and guidance, imparting upon William and Mallory the values of hard work, kindness, integrity, and perseverance that defined his own life.
Kevin’s zest for life, quick wit, and charisma were undeniable. Known affectionately as "Kool Kat Kevin" to many of his nieces and nephews, he brought joy and laughter wherever he went. Kevin was a true conversationalist and masterful storyteller.
A graduate of J.W. Sexton High School, veteran of the U.S. Navy, and alumnus of Michigan State University, Kevin was an accomplished businessman and lifelong educator. Kevin’s tenacity, resilience, ingenuity, and entrepreneurial spirit were evident throughout his life.
Kevin’s leadership, humor, adventurous nature, and thoughtfulness will be missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday, February 19, 2024 at the Lansing Catholic High School Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 14, 2024, from 1:00-4:00, at the Delta Township Community Center in Lansing, MI. Donations in Kevin’s name can be made to the Western Golf Association: Evans Scholars Foundation or Lansing Catholic High School: Cor Fund.
