Linda Ann Sykes passed away August 7, 2025, at Sparrow Hospice House in Lansing, Michigan. Born on September 9, 1947, to Robert and Patricia Warner, Linda grew up in Royal Oak, Michigan with 5 siblings, Diana, Patti, Lauri, Rob, and Bethany. She attended Kimball High School and went on to study at Michigan State University. It was at MSU that she met Dennis Sykes. They were married on June 10, 1967, and had two children, Jeffrey and Shannon. Linda was a bank teller for many years, until joining Public Sector Consultants in 1986, where she became the Comptroller until her retirement in 2012.
As a mother she was fun, sweet, loving, and selfless. From volunteering at school to planning fun adventures, her kids were the center of her world. She taught them that love and kindness matter and that it can be used in small ways to change lives. Her life served as inspiration to them as they grew to have families of their own.
In 1997, Linda became a grandmother. There was no limit to what she offered to see Noah, Adam, Grace, and Amelia smile. She shared with them the same patience, love, and compassion that she had always had for her children, and they adore her.
She loved planning annual vacations with her family and road trips with her sisters, making sure to never pass a casino by. In her retirement she enjoyed luncheons and playing dominos with her friends, watching Spartan football and basketball, binge watching Netflix with Dennis, shopping, doing puzzles, always spending time making memories with her family.
Throughout her life, Linda was a great source of joy and inspiration to her husband, children, family and friends. Through her daily actions, she was a shining example of true beauty. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy of loving kindness will last forever.
