Age 78, was born on January 19, 1932 to Marian E. (Pung) Maier and Merl Edward Maier in Lansing, Michigan; died on February 24, 2010. Ed was a retired route salesman for Heatherwood Farms and later for Schafer Bakery. He earned a degree in Horticulture at MSU, while raising a family of 6 children and working the route. After earning his degree, Ed established a high-quality landscape business and operated it for several years. After retirement, he worked his “fun job” at Groesbeck Golf Course until his health failed. Ed was a loving husband and devote father. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary (Lynch); 2 sons, Steve and Bill (Andrea); 4 daughters, Susan (Jeff) Lyons, Joni (Jeff) Soles, Laurie Parker and Theresa Sadler; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; several cousins; Tom Parker and many other friends.
Memorial services will be held Monday, March 8, 2:00 PM at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, with the Rev. William J. Koenigsknecht of the Church of the Resurrection officiating. The family will receive friends at the Chapel on Monday 1 hour prior to the service. Those desiring may make contributions to the Church of the Resurrection, 1531 E. Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912, or the American Lung Association, 403 E.
