

Margaret Elizabeth Wakley, age 93, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. She was born on March 23, 1931, in Oakland County, Michigan to Stanley and Alice (Whitman) Valentine. She was a graduate of Bath High School. Margaret married Ronald John Wakley on March 24, 1951, and they were together for 70 years until his passing in 2021. Together, they raised 4 children on Palmer Street in Lansing, where they lived for over 65 years.
Margaret is survived by her children, Douglas (Denise) Wakley of Charlotte, Dale (Carol) Wakley of Muir, and Dawn Schieberl of Lansing; grandchildren, Heather (Chris) Jones of Three Rivers, Angela (Hendrikus) Wakley of Indonesia, Jason (Brittany) Wakley of Mt. Pleasant, Andrea Scott of Three Rivers, Cory Wakley of Lansing, Cassandra (Tom) Gaskill of Portland, and Crystal Schieberl of Lansing; great grandchildren, Adrian, Daxton, Cody, Teddy, Lucas, Leyna, Dominic, Braydon, Trenton, Maddox, Jaxon, Rebecca, Gabrielle, Isaiah, and Eathan; great great grandchildren, Robert (RJ) and Jayomie; and lifelong friend, Shirley King. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald; son, Danny; son-in-law, Mark Schieberl; siblings, Bertha Turner, Kathleen (Gwen) Alden, Gertrude Weaks, and Stanley Valentine, Jr., and her parents.
Margaret was an avid bowler and had a passion for fishing that she inherited from her mother. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her grandkids in the motorhome. She was a loyal Detroit Tigers fan and would root on the MSU Spartans in any sport, but had a particular devotion to the Spartan Basketball team. Margaret always looked forward to trips to the casino and in between those trips she played Bingo and put her money on the chance to win at scratch off lottery tickets. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a good friend.
Funeral service for Margaret will take place on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at DeepDale Memorial Gardens.
