At the heart of Marjorie’s life was her family and faith. Together with her husband, she raised four children while contributing to the family income with simple jobs. Her bond with her kids was deep and lasting. She showed a kind of support that never wavered. No matter what life threw at them, she always made sure they knew: "You always have a place here at home." Marjorie was a faithful member at Hope Lutheran church for decades. Her faith was strong, and she always said “God will take care of that”.
Marjorie was always working — not just in the literal sense, but in the way she poured herself into every role she played: driver, neighbor, friend, mother, wife. She had a gift for listening. You could tell her anything — and people did — knowing she’d never break their trust. Known throughout DeWitt as the “Town Bus” school bus driver, Marjorie wasn’t just the one who made sure the kids got to school safely — she was a steady, familiar presence. Over the years, as she drove her route, she got to know families, learned their stories, saw children grow up, and quietly kept watch over them all.
Marjorie is survived by her children: Pam (Ted) Lautzenheiser, Kirk Heskitt, Mike (Molly) Heskitt and Brian (Tania) Heskitt; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; siblings: Dorothy Wilson and Robert Myers; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and beloved husband Gerald Heskitt.
A funeral service for Marjorie will be held Monday, June 30, 2025, at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior at Hope Lutheran Church, 1180 W Herbison Rd, DeWitt, MI 48820. Interment to follow at DeWitt City Cemetery.
