Maxine Sanford, our mother, our best friend, age 90 returned peacefully to the Lord on February 5, 2016. Surviving are her seven children: Martha (Mike) Caterino, Mary Lee (Joe) Potvin, Bill (Lyn) Sanford, Jr., Kate Sanford (Zac Falor), Betsy (Steve) Romankewiz, Peggy (Dave) Clark, and Mark (Susan) Sanford. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Maxine's beloved husband Bill predeceased her in 2005 after nearly 57 years of marriage. Born and raised in Flint, Maxine was a homemaker most of her adult life, instilling in her children faith, perseverance, love of family along with a great sense of humor. She was an active member of St. Gerard parish, belonging to the Kitchen Madonna, Women's Guild and choir for many years. She was an avid Bridge player and never passed up a garage sale. She and her husband enjoyed traveling in their retirement years and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated and wonderful staff at Gunnisonville Meadows Assisted Living Facility for the loving care given to Maxine.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, Feb. 10, with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing. Funeral Liturgy is 10:30 A.M. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 W. Willow, Lansing with Fr. John P. Klein presiding. The family will be gathering from 9:30 to 10:30 A.M. Thursday at church.
