Melvin J. Robbins, Jr. (Mel) passed away August 27, 2016 at the age of 90. He was born June 15, 1926 to Melvin and Emma Robbins in Lansing. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma; children, Kathy (Doug) Twichell, Barb Robbins, Cheryl (Rick) Dunlap; step-children, Steven (Stephanie) Freeman, Diane Freeman, Deb (Dave) Wedley; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and nine great-granchildren. Mel was preceded in death by step-children, Dave (1999) and Jeanne Freeman (2008).
Mel was veteran of World War II and he retired from Oldsmobile as a tool maker after 30 years of service. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, spending time at his cottage on Duck Lake, and watching the Detroit Tigers. Mel was a loving husband and father and as an only child, was extremely proud to have so many grand and great-grandchildren. Services are pending and will be announced at a later date.
