A year passes again, and we have many memories of Mike as Reunion Leader of the Swix clan. Always funny, organized and auctioneer. He was compassionate, very involved and belonged to many organizations. He was a terrific husband to Cindy and they had such a closeness and a desire to travel and were so close to their family. He was so proud of his sons and grands. He kept the SWIX family together and always inquired about your health,  and what was happening in your live. He lived life to the fullest and made an impression on everyone he met. He is missed.

What can anyone say about Michael Swix?  He was larger than life?
Bud and I shared so many memories with Mike and Cindy!  New Year's Eves, many, many hours of playing 'Hand and Foot,' weekends at Lake Michigan and Horsehead Lake not to mention all the fishing and hunting Bud and Mike did together!  There is a void that can never be filled!  Rest in Peace, dear friend!!!

Uncle Mike treated me like I belonged in the family as soon as he met me. There was never a time that we were together that he didn't tell me that he loved me. He always made me feel special. I will miss his strong voice, his big hugs, his smile, and his contagious joy.

As the eldest daughter to Tarry Edington, my experience with Mike Swix was as a father/uncle figure. I have extremely fond memories of when they came to visit our family one summer when we lived in southern Michigan. It was a HERCULEAN HOT AND HUMID day. My sister, age five, and I, age eight, and the three Swix boys, with Brian around my age, took a packed lunch to walk on the old deserted railroad tracks that ran at the back of our property. We walked to the small private airport that wasn't too far away down the tracks. On the way there, we discovered a humongous patch of ripe red raspberries. We were so excited. So, on our way back from the airport we filled the Tupperware dishes that held our sandwiches, etc. to the brim, with fresh-picked raspberries. I recall Lisa sitting on Rocky's shoulders so she could reach the higher up ones. It was so much fun. And, of course, there was a bit of adversity, dealing with the thorns. There were probably also mosquitoes, but that impression is not in my brain. We were ecstatic thinking about the possibility of our moms making raspberry pie when we returned to the house. We were gone "so long" that our parents drove on the road that crossed the tracks and looked down to see if they could see us.... And, yes, when we got back to the NOT air-conditioned house our mothers were willing to turn on the oven and crank out a pie.  

Obviously, this memory doesn't directly involve Mike. But, it was his family. I do recall there was always lots of laughter when Mike was around. When he came to my Mom and Dad's 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration it was fun to hear about the stories when Mike was vice president, and my dad was president, of their senior high school class. There were, of course, always shenanigans of some kind. To all of his friends and family, I wish you peace and joy in recalling your own fond memories.

Mike  and Cindy would always do lunch with us when they came down to Florida every March. He was such a genuine gentleman. Cindy found her forever BFF when she found Mike. He will be missed by many.

I will remember the many New Year’s Eve get togethers with Mike and Cindy. Even after my husband , Garry, passed, we continued our New Year’s Eve tradition. This picture of Mike epitomizes his personality so clearly. I will miss him very much; but  I know Cindy and I will continue our friendship and adventures. My condolences to the entire Swix family.

In memory of my steadfast friend from school days in Grand Ledge  to his passing from the bounds of earth, I say to his family and friends and acquaintances from far and wide wherever he passed, he was without equal in my life.  He was part of my being.  We played together.  We adventured together.  We laughed together.  We cried together.  We were as brothers.

My Family Brother Doug's parting words to me a few days before his passing were “I will be waiting for you inside the East Gate”.  I will be looking for him there.  And, for my Fellowship Brother Mike as well

Mike was a groomsman at out wedding in 1965.  These three were all bothers in their own right.  The first is my Family Brother, the second my Fraternity Brother, the third my Fellowship brother, Mike.

We met in our school days in public schools in Grand Ledge, Michigan.  There began a lifelong fellowship.  He was VP of the Class of 1960.  He brought joy and laughter to all at every occasion (sometimes even without permission).

Mike was my husband Gordon Swix's cousin. It was always fun to be with Mike. He was empathic, full of energy, and had such creative ideas. He and Cindy had a wonderful loving marriage. They were just met for each other. He was generous to his friends and family,  devoted  family man and truly the head of events for the Swix clan. A man to be respected, a GOOD MAN who will be missed. We send our sympathy to Cindy and Mike's family.
