Nancy Louise Fineis, age 82, of Lansing, Michigan passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on December 6, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan to Burdette and Mary Gertrude Phillips.
Nancy married the late Robert “Bob” A. Fineis on September 17, 1960, and the two of them spent the next 59 wonderful years together, until his passing in 2019. She supported her husband for many years doing billing and delivery for the business he owned and operated, Crown & Bridge Dental Lab. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and loved supporting them. Nancy was warm, loving, had a wonderful sense of humor, and made each person feel welcome in her home and cottage. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the cottage on Long Lake. Nancy and her husband Bob leave a legacy of love, family, and are role models for us all.
Nancy was a woman of strong faith and deep Catholic roots. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School, was a volunteer at St. Lawrence Gift Shop, and was a member of Resurrection Church for many years before becoming a parishioner at St. Gerard Church. She was an active member of the Alter Society, St. Patrick’s Circle at Resurrection.
Left to cherish Nancy’s memory as the loving mother and grandmother that she was are her children, Jeffrey (Mary) Fineis, Jeanette (Greg) Eavey, Jill (Mike) Fischette, Gregg (Vanessa) Fineis, and Dan Fineis; her grandchildren, Michael and Janie Fineis, Jenna (Shelby) and Amber Eavey, Jacob and Megan Fischette, Austin (Marley) Fineis, and Trevor (Rachael) Hunt; she is also survived by siblings, Mary (Howard) Alt and Tom Phillips. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert A. Fineis; parents, Burdette and Mary Phillips; and siblings, Mary J. “Jannie” Phillips, John Phillips, James Phillips, Kathryn Clifford, and Dan Phillips.
A visitation for Nancy will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a rosary service starting at 7:30 PM, at Gorsline Runciman Tiffany Chapel, 3232 West Saginaw Street, Lansing, MI 48917. A funeral Mass will occur Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 10:30 AM, with a one-hour prior visitation from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, at St. Gerard Catholic Church, 4437 West Willow Hwy., Lansing, MI 48917. A graveside service will take place Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2520 West Willow Street, Lansing, MI 48917.
Serving as pallbearers are Greg Eavey, Austin Fineis, Michael Fineis, Jacob Fischette, Mike Fischette, and Trevor Hunt. Serving as honorary pallbearers are granddaughters, Amber Eavey, Jenna Eavey, Janie Fineis and Megan Fischette.
The family extends gratitude to all of Nancy’s caregivers and to Centered Care, Vista Springs Timber Ridge and The Care Team Hospice.
