She was born April 1, 1939 in Grand Junction, CO and moved to Michigan at an early age. Nancy was known for her great love of family and friends. She loved traveling, evenings out and spending time with her 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was greatly anticipating the soon arrival of the 12th great-grandchild and couldn't wait to be called "GG" by another.
It was said by Shannon Alder, "Carve your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you." Nancy left such a legacy and always imparted to her children to stand up for themselves and for what they believe in and to never take anything from anyone!
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Nye, IV; parents, Russell Marion and Gertrude Irene (Barnes) Ogden; brothers, Clarence Ernest and William Leslie Ogden; and sisters, Ila Mae Syers and Edna Ruth Bartlett.
Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her children, Anthony William Nye, Montgomery Charles (Susan) Nye, Roxanne Marie (Craig) Landes and Charles Henry "Bubber" Nye, V; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Marie McDermid; sisters-in-law, Virginia (George) Cunningham, Patricia Rowe and Elizabeth Gies; and many close nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by her very special friends, Art Gibson and Mary Carol Twist, Fran Knox, Melody Pierson; and her beloved dog, Ruby.
Nancy's Life will be celebrated on Saturday, Aug. 26 at 11a.m., at Gorsline-Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with Harold Demott as Celebrant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the celebration.
At Nancy’s request, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to: Greater Michigan MDA, 2133 University Park Drive #400, Okemos, MI 48864.
