After a short battle with cancer, surrounded by family, Ollie Mae Brown parted this life on Monday, November 7, 2016. Ollie was born to the late Henry and Willie Pauline Johnson-Brown. She was the sixth child out of seven; three of which preceded her in death: Lillie Brown, Willie Brown-Woody, and Freddie Goodale. Surviving siblings: Sally Warton, Albert Brown, and Charles Brown. Relocating to Sikeston, MO, Ollie raised four daughters: Stephanie Brown, Lenell Brown, Patricia Brown, and Tracy Brown-Anderson. Later Ollie moved to Benton Harbor, MI. She became a loving grandmother of seven: Cassondra Brown, Neva Brown, Dekedah Brown, Jari Brown, Terrance Brown, Erica Brown, and Brandon Brown.
Becoming a permanent resident of Lansing, MI. She was blessed with eleven great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. Ollie was a dedicated and hard working employee of Michigan Education Association in East Lansing for 21 years. She retired in 2003. Her sassy sense of humor and generous heart gained her many friends that consider her family. Referred to Ms. Ollie, she was always willing to lend a helping hand and render words of encouragement and advice. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and friends, even though she would jokingly complain about doing so. Ollie was a fearless fan of the University of MI. among a family of diehard Michigan State fans. She enjoyed watching figure skating, playing cards, and was a trophy winning bowler. Special moments included traveling to Paris and cruising the Caribbean with her friends. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Saturday with the Memorial Services at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 12, in the Tiffany Funeral Home, 3232 W. Saginaw, Lansing.
