Rachel was born in Lansing, MI to Jasper and Sylvia (Redman) Page. She graduated from Everett High School, where she nurtured the beginning of a lifelong love of painting and drawing. She was known for both her landscapes and her portraits, and she created beautiful pictures in many mediums: oils, pastels, chalk, even simple pen and ink. Her artwork was displayed at a gallery in Midway, Utah, and her drawings could be found in Park Service and Visitor Center booklets, where she worked for a few years while in living in Utah with family. When she wasn’t creating works of art, Rachel helped run many successful restaurants with her husband – notably the Pizza Pit in East Lansing, Mr. D’s Pizza and Subs (which started in Lansing before developing into many locations and franchises throughout Mid-Michigan), and David Pizza Supply, or “DPS” as it was known to its many wholesale pizza customers.
Rachel was independent and a hard worker throughout her entire life. Her artistic abilities and independent spirit will be lovingly remembered by her family for years to come.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith David; her parents; and her granddaughters, Carissa Perry and Nicole Perry Rodriguez.
She will be dearly missed by her two children, Dan (Jeanette) David and Diane Perry; her seven grandchildren, Sheila, Jessica, Rebecca, Tara, Patrick, Andrea, Vonn; her seventeen great-grandchildren; her one great-great-grandchild; and her sister, Norma Pulice.
Services are pending at this time.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rachel’s honor to Capital Area Humane Society, 7095 W. Grand River Ave., Lansing, MI 48906.
