Reva was a spunky, strong-willed lady loved by many. She was a proud Quaker at Lansing Eastern, graduating in 1953. She married Clarence Rusk on June 26, 1954 and they later had a son and daughter together. Her younger adult years were spent at home caring for her children. She enjoyed picking them up from school on her Honda scooter. When her children were older, she became a bookkeeper at St. Lawrence Hospital. After seeing a man’s finger fall to the floor in the emergency room, she decided that working in a hospital wasn’t for her.
Upon retirement, Reva spent much of her time serving others through several volunteer programs. Some of her volunteer work occurred at the Capital Region International Airport and LO Eye Care. She volunteered at the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and knitted hundreds of hats, mittens, and scarves for their program to be given to those in need. She devoted much of her time to The Salvation Army in many capacities, including serving lunches, working at the food bank, helping to hand out gifts through the Angel Tree program, and spending hours counting money for the Red Kettle Campaign, eventually taking over managing the money room in her later years.
She kept very busy throughout her life with many hobbies, including volleyball, walking, exercise class, knitting and sewing, gardening, playing cards, and lunch with the ladies. When knitting became difficult, Reva took up sticker art and diamond painting. She has created beautiful diamond art and knitted blankets for each great grandchild. Reva cherished her time with family, especially the children. She was actively involved in the lives of her grandchildren and great grandchildren and enjoyed going to their sporting events to cheer them on or playing games with them when they visited.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Jeri) Rusk, son-in-law Arnie (Sherry) Feguer, granddaughters, Nikki (Sean) Freedberg and Danielle (Geoff) Brigham, 4 great grandchildren, Finn, Zoey, Fletcher, and Miles, and several other important family and friends who loved her deeply. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wayne Rusk, and daughter, Sallie Renee Feguer, as well as her parents, LaVerne and Rose DeZess, her siblings Frank, John, and Rita, and her precious kitty, Ginger. The family wishes to thank the staff of both StoryPoint Abbot Park and CorsoCare Hospice for their excellent and compassionate care during this difficult time.
A visitation for Reva will be held Thursday, September 4, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. A private family burial will follow.
