Richard Roy "Dick" Beckwith

Richard was born on May 10, 1942 in Lansing, MI, the son of Leon Levi and Besse Irene (Bollman) Beckwith. He graduated from Sexton High School. Following high school, Richard proudly served his country in the Army. While serving his country, he married his late love, Mary Ellen Plott on May 26, 1962.

Following Richard's time in the Army, he went on to work for Fisher Body at General Motors where he was a Line Technician. He retired with 30 years of service from Fisher Body. Richard was a hard worker, and this was something that he instilled in his children. He was a member of the American Legion in Saginaw. He was also an avid supporter of St. Jude's Hospital, Special Olympics, and Disabled American Veterans.

Richard was more than his work, however. He loved to fish, hunt, travel, play cards and do all types of puzzles. All, of course, were better to do with family. Richard was a family man through and through. His favorite memories all included his family. He was so proud when Becky went back to school for her Doctorate Degree, and he loved when he could take all 24 family members to Disney World in 2019. Richard was a very gentle man who cherished his family and enjoyed sharing stores of his life.

Richard is survived by his children, Rebecca (Carl) Wilkins of Saginaw, Richard Beckwith Jr. of Laingsburg, and Robert (Tammy) Beckwith of DeWitt; grandchildren, Bradley (Lori) Beckwith, Ashley (Chad) Wickham, Ryan Beckwith, Erikka Wilkins, Joshua Wilkins, Makenzie Pfeifer, and Malisa Pfeifer; great-grandchildren, Kailynne Wickham, Dominick Beckwith, Elliana Wickham, Dakota Beckwith, Jaiden Wickham, and Aleah Beckwith; and his siblings, Joann (Wayne) Banner, Danny Beckwith, and Ronald (Peg) Beckwith.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Beckwith; parents, Leon and Besse Beckwith; and his brother, James Beckwith.

A visitation for Richard will be held 10AM-11AM Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 East Michigan Ave, Lansing, MI 48912. A memorial service will take place at 11AM on Wednesday, August 30 at the funeral home. A committal service will follow the memorial at Deepdale Memorial Gardens, 4108 Old Lansing Rd, Lansing, MI 48917. A luncheon will conclude the services for Richard.
